Recently eight members of the Western Wayne chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended the organization’s annual State Leadership Workshop in our state capital of Harrisburg. Pennsylvania.
Throughout this two-day event, the 870 members and advisers in attendance had the opportunity to participate in a variety of interactive workshops that not only helped develop leadership skills but allowed the members to “tell their story,” the workshop’s theme.
To raise money for the PA FBLA State Project benefiting the National Kidney Foundation, a dodgeball tournament and a charity basket auction featuring more than 60 theme baskets were held. Combined these activities raised more than $7,000 toward a goal of $45,000.
In addition, the WW team of Allison Mattern, Jacob Karnick, and Jack Tuman took part in the Battle of the Chapters event, a quiz game focusing on the students’ knowledge of FBLA facts and current events. In an exciting final round against Jersey Shore High School, they placed second.
Also attending the workshop were Abby Gogolski, Cosette Talarico, Krystal Tregaskis, Ben Field and Jeff Sauers. Ms. Theresa Lubash, local chapter adviser, accompanied the students.
