WSHS Students Win Martin Luther King Essay Contest
Recently, students in the Scranton School District participated in the Greater Scranton Area Martin Luther King essay contest. Students had to write an essay describing their everyday hero. Six students from West Scranton High School earned awards for their submissions: freshmen Rickey Conklin, Ava Palermo, Yasmin Ramirez, Jamie Stine, Garrett Walsh, and sophomore Destynie Reis. The winners from West are in the history classes of Mr. Vince Wojnar and Mr. Ken Murphy.
All students who submitted winning essays were honored at a ceremony at Scranton High School and were treated to an ethnic potluck dinner.
