At the recent FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) State Leadership Conference held in Hershey, 48 students from Western Wayne High School were among the more than 5,500 members and advisers in attendance participating in nearly 70 business-related competitive events and leadership activities.

 

During the conference, Western Wayne junior Ezra Tetreault, PA FBLA Vice President-at-large, and the other members of the state officer team conducted the opening session, business session, and awards of excellence ceremony.  Ezra also campaigned and was elected PA FBLA First Vice President for the 2019-2020 school year.

 

Eighteen students captured awards including the following:  First place, Accounting I, Madison Kapschull; First place, Introduction to FBLA, Ashton Fitzsimmons; First place, Parliamentary Procedure, the team of Allison Mattern, Abby Gogolski, Sydney Peet, Jill Dudley, and Darlene Black.

 

Also, Kaeli Romanowski, Lena Piccolino, and Rachel Hoch, captured first-, second-, and third-place awards respectively in Intro to Parliamentary Procedure.

 

Emily Barone was fifth in Computer Applications while the team of Lenny Maiocco, Matt Leslie, and Madison McGlone was fifth in Intro to Business Presentation.  Gabby Tetreault was sixth in Introduction to FBLA and Kate Mattern also captured a sixth-place award in Public Speaking.   The team of Maya Black and Jake Ortola placed eighth in Digital Video Production.

 

Finally, the Western Wayne chapter captured an eighth-place award in the Outstanding Chapter event while Allison Mattern and Austin Boguski received awards in the Who’s Who in PA FBLA event.  Allison was fifth and received a $500 scholarship; Austin Boguski received an honorable mention and a $250 scholarship.

 

Other students attending were Annie Skirpin, Gavin Lamberton, Lou Azzato, Matthew Reingold, Jamie Bryan, Sydney Hutchinson, Courtney Petrilak, Megan Herlihy, Evan Coons, Brandon Garnett, Derek Mason, Landon Firmstone, Jack McAllister, Miriam Sheehan, Cosette Talarico, Audrey Lawlor, Maggie Millon, Hannah Elbert, Caleb Hoch, Grace Hollister, Parker Howell, Edward Sledzinski, Jake Kunz, Gabe Piero, Lily Visceglia, Jake Brodowsky, Abby Burke, and Johnny Barcarola.  Accompanying the students were Theresa Lubash, chapter adviser; Fran Vitovsky, retired FBLA adviser, and Denise Johnson, school nurse.
