West Scranton Students Attend Marywood University Senior Wind Band Celebration

West Scranton High School band members recently attended the Marywood University Senior Wind Band Festival, a program offered by the university to support the performing arts in schools. The two-day event, which took place this year on March 3-4, is sponsored by the Marywood University Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance. It provides selected students in grades 10-12 with the opportunity to work with and perform under the direction of guest directors and musicians, who are considered some of the best in their field.

Students auditioned and were placed in an Honors Band and a Celebration band, depending on their performance. West Scranton seniors Geoff O’Connor and Patrick O’Malley along with sophomore Thomas Morgan were in the Celebration Band, while senior Albert Gonzalez and sophomore Jimmy Greenfield represented West in the Honors Band.
