West Scranton Senior Attends District Band

Albert Gonzalez, a senior at West Scranton High School, recently participated in the District 9 PMEA Band Festival which was held from January, 27-29^th at Pittston Area High School.  The event was sponsored by the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and included 153 student musicians from 30 area high schools encompassing five counties.  The three day festival was conducted by Dr. Andrew Yozwiak, a Wyoming Valley native and director of bands at West Chester University.

Students auditioned for chair placement and the ability to move on to the Regional Band Festival that will be held later in February. The festival commenced with a concert on Friday evening.  Albert, who is also a drum major of the West Scranton High School marching band, performed on the flute.
