West Scranton – PIAA District Wrestling Championship

The West Scranton High School wrestling team placed second at this year’s PIAA District 2 Wrestling Championship.  11 out of the 14 members of the Invaders’ team earned medals to secure the second place win.

The top 4 will now advance to the NE Regional Tournament.

Invaders who placed in the District tournament were:

Jared Slack – Champion (weight class 138)

Anthony Giordano – Champion (weight class 285)

Yahanzy Ortiz – 3rd place (weight class 120)

Bubba Novak – 3rd place (weight class 152)

Jeremy Seymour – 3rd place (weight class 170)

Noah Worsnick – 4th place (weight class 220)

Randy Bonitz – 5th place (weight class 106)

Garrett Walsh – 5th place (weight class 126)

Gage Lewis – 6th place (weight class 113)

Bobby Walls – 6th place (weight class 182)

Carl Fisher – 6th place (weight class 195)

The Wrestling Invaders had several other highlights to this year’s season.  They were named the Lackawanna League Tournament champions, and they earned a team duel meet record of 20-5.  Furthermore, senior Bartley “Bubba” Novak marked 100+ career victories this season.
