West Scranton Athletes Earn Foreign Language Poetry Awards
Two West Scranton High School student athletes recently won awards for outstanding performance in a different arena: that of Spanish poetry recitation.
Sophomore Matt Gaul, a member of the school’s basketball, baseball, and football teams, won a first place trophy for his declamation of the poem entitled “El domingo la vi en misa.” Matt Tulaney, another sophomore and a member of the baseball and football teams, earned a first place award for his recitation of “Invierno.”
Both students participated in the annual competition conducted in the Spanish II classes of Mrs. Linda Cerra.
