Two MMI students selected from global applicant pool to participate in entrepreneurship program

(Freeland, PA – April 4, 2016) – MMI Preparatory School juniors Katherine Eschenbach and Keenan Overa were two of 76 students from around the world selected to participate in the Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship at Lehigh University.

Eschenbach is the daughter of David and Maureen Eschenbach, Drums. Overa is the son of Timothy and Lori Overa, Drums.

The Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship at Lehigh University brings American high school students ages 15-18 together with international high school students from all regions of the world for a four-week residential learning experience. Only 76 students are selected each year to participate in the program.

The purpose of the program is to expose students to the topics of entrepreneurship, globalization, team building, project management, leadership and working within a culturally diverse environment and to ignite the students’ spirit of creativity, innovation and learning.

MMI Head of School Thomas G. Hood said, “We’re honored to have Katie and Keenan represent MMI in such a prestigious global program. MMI students receive a well-rounded education and this was an excellent opportunity for these students to show their strong academic ability, leadership qualities, entrepreneurship skills and community service.”

Sessions are facilitated by Lehigh faculty members as well as entrepreneurs and leaders of the local and international business community. The applied curriculum includes core and elective courses, entrepreneurial exchanges with leaders from business and industry, global exchanges, country presentations by international interns, business excursions to New York City and Harrisburg, team projects with local business partners and a variety of other interactive experiences and activities.

Students were required to be current sophomores or juniors in any secondary school, write a personal essay and include their academic record, extracurricular resume and references. Applications were reviewed by a committee comprised of Lehigh University professors, business and industry experts and the Iacocca Institute staff.
