The Vikings Read Book Club Skyped with author Jackson Pearce recently.
Jackson Pearce writes books for young adult and middle grade readers. Skyping from Atlanta, Georgia, she met with the Vikings Read Book Club after club members read several of her retold fairy tales novels. Club favorites were Sisters Red which was based on Little Red Riding Hood and Cold Spell which was based on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen. She answered questions about her writing process and why she chose to retell particular fairy tales.
Sophomore Sabrina Alvarez enjoyed Skyping with the author. Sabrina said she learned that when writing “not everything has to be pretty. It is a better story if there are some ugly scars like in the book Sisters Red“
