Each year the members of the Shenandoah Valley Chapter of the National Honor Society select a member of the High School Faculty and recognize that teacher for their involvement in the educational process by conferring them with the Crystal Apple Award. This year’s recipient was Social Studies Teacher Chris Conroy who has been a member of the high school faculty since 2004. His educational background consists of earning a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education with a concentration in social studies from Bloomsburg University, and later earning a masters’ degree in 21st Century Teaching from Wilkes University. While at SV he has served as an assistant coach in volleyball, baseball, & girls’ basketball. This year he concluded his eighth year as head girls’ basketball coach where he surpassed 100 varsity wins and went on to become the first female team to capture a District XI Championship.
