Riverside Junior Senior High School Drama Club hosted a Poetry Out Loud competition on Tuesday, November 10th
The Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest was created by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation, Poetry Out Loud is administered in partnership with the State Arts Agencies of all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
The National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation have partnered with U.S. state arts agencies to support Poetry Out Loud, a contest that encourages the nation’s youth to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage.
Katie Howey, the first place winner, will proceed to the regional competition held at WVIA
