Teaching poetry is a part of every language arts curriculum, and finding inventive ways to show students the art in writing can be a challenge. Ms. Marsico, a high school teacher from the Old Forge School District, constructs an environment in her classroom that allows all her students to see the beauty in writing poetry. Recently, two of her students were published in The American Library of Poetry. Areyonna Tompkins and Earl Talarico expressed their emotions through figurative language to create heart-felt poetry.
