In 1984, the classic film, “Footloose.” was released.  In 1998, Walter Bobbie, a University of Scranton graduate, adapted it into a stage play and it won four Tony Awards!  On Friday April 10th and Saturday 11th at 7:00pm, this iconic play will hit the stage feet first as North Pocono High School presents Footloose as its Spring Musical! Ren McCormack (Christian Brown) is unexpectedly transplanted from Chicago to the town of Bomont, where he experiences a heavy dose of culture shock.  A few years prior, the community was rocked by a tragic accident that killed five teenagers. As a result, Bomont’s local councilmen and the beloved Reverend Shaw Moore (Alex Nebraski) responded by implementing an ordinance that prohibited dancing. When in Bomont, Ren meets and falls in love with the minister’s daughter, Ariel (Danielle Sanders). He challenges the ban and, in doing so, helps himself and the Reverend understand both the real meaning of forgiveness in each of their lives, and of coming to terms with challenges.

Tickets are $10.00 adults and $5.00 for students and faculty/staff.  Tickets will be on sale beginning April 6th, and they will also be available at the door prior to the performances.
