(Freeland, PA – April 18, 2018) – MMI Preparatory School students Julia Snyder, Sydney Karpowich, and Anna Haber each won awards in the 2018 Art Youth Expo. The annual two-day art exposition was held April 6-7 in downtown Hazleton. The students submitted their art selections under the guidance of MMI art instructor Lisa Marie Ferry.

Haber captured first place in the Sculpture category for her piece entitled “Toxic” and received an Honorable Mention award for her painting entitled “Self Image.” Snyder finished first in the Photography category for her submission entitled “Secret Love” and Karpowich came in second in the Crafts category for her piece entitled “Prism.”

Sponsored by the Hazleton Art League, Art Youth Expo is an annual arts festival that takes place in April in downtown Hazleton. The festival features live music, poetry, face painting and other activities! The main gallery exhibit features artwork by young and emerging artists between the ages of 13 and 30.

Julia Snyder is the daughter of Dr. Chris and Dr. Jill Snyder of Sugarloaf. Sydney Karpowich is the daughter of Atty. Donald Karpowich and Tracy Gallagher of Sugarloaf. Anna Haber is the daughter of Dr. John and Cathryn Haber of Tresckow.
