MMI students attend Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship with peers from 20 countries

(Freeland, PA – September 8, 2016) – MMI Preparatory School seniors Keenan Overa, Katherine Eschenbach and Jessica Smith were among a select group of students from 20 different countries who attended the month-long Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship at Lehigh University in July.

The program is open to sophomores and juniors ages 15-18, who were selected to attend during the 2015-2016 school year. The Global Entrepreneurship program exposed the students to the topics of entrepreneurship, globalization, team building, project management, leadership and working within a culturally diverse environment and ignited the students’ spirit of creativity, innovation and learning.

Sessions were facilitated by Lehigh University faculty members as well as entrepreneurs and leaders of the local and international business community. The applied curriculum included core and elective courses, entrepreneurial exchanges with leaders from business and industry, global exchanges, country presentations by international interns, business excursions to New York City and Harrisburg, team projects with local business partners and a variety of other interactive experiences and activities.

Keenan Overa said, “I am thankful to (MMI instructor) Christina Spencer for making the Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship a reality for me. With 76 teenagers from 20 countries around the globe, it was a life changing experience.”

Katherine Eschenbach said, “Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship (PSGE) was such an amazing experience. I was able to be exposed to different cultures and customs. Besides meeting new friends, my favorite part of PSGE was my group project.  It is always refreshing to work with motivated people who can provide new ideas.”

Jessica Smith said, “I am so thankful to have had the wonderful opportunity to participate in Pennsylvania School of Global Entrepreneurship. It was a life-changing experience and one that I will never forget. I had a wonderful time at PSGE because I had the opportunity to meet more than 70 students from all over the world, such as Kuwait, Uganda and Spain. I loved learning about their different cultures and sharing my own as well. I would highly encourage anyone to apply to PSGE, especially if they are interested in going into business or if they are just looking for a great summer learning experience.”

Keenan Overa is the son of Timothy and Lori Overa of Drums, Katherine Eschenbach is the daughter of David and Maureen Eschenbach of Drums, and Jessica Smith is the daughter of Jonathan Smith and Beatrice Russo-Smith of White Haven.
