MMI student qualifies for national FBLA competition

 

(Freeland, PA – April 23, 2014) – Claire Sheen, a junior at MMI Preparatory School, qualified to attend the national Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tenn., this summer.

Sheen, the daughter of Kwangsup and Chaeyun Sheen of Mountaintop, earned second place in the Digital Video Production at the Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference in Hershey. She and five other MMI students placed in the top 10 of their respective events at the state level.

The other MMI students who placed in the top 10 at the FBLA State Leadership Conference are: Soprina Guarneri, daughter of Vincent and Sop Guarneri, Wilkes-Barre, and Gabriellia Nunez Becker, daughter of Susan Becker, Lake Harmony, who earned seventh place in the Partnership With a Business Project category; Yusuf Qadri, son of Syed and Saffiyah Qadri, Drums, who earned seventh place in the Impromptu Speaking category; and Emily Bogansky, daughter of David Bogansky, Hazle Township, and Katherine Balderston, Hazle Township, and Hayden Francis, son of Donald Francis, Sugarloaf, and Mary Pascucci, Sugarloaf, who earned 10th place in the Business Ethics category.

MMI also received first place in the Local Market Share Award, which reflects that the MMI chapter of FBLA has the largest percentage of high-school student members in the club across the state.
