The Mid Valley School District, Administrators, and the Art Department are pleased to announce that Sophomore, Laura Penn, earned national recognition in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards of 2013. Laura has been identified by a panel of creative professionals as one of the most talented artists and writers in the nation. This year,
230,000 works of art and writing were submitted. Only the top 1% were recognized at a national level. Her photography piece titled “The Haze”, received a gold key recognition and will be displayed at the Pratt Manhattan Gallery in New York. Laura has been invited to attend a ceremony at the world famous Carnegie Hall on Friday May 31st. The Carnegie Hall Ceremony will also be webcast live at 6pm ET.
