Marywood’s Annual Community Leadership Celebration to include Selections from Godspell, Aerialists, Living Statues, and Plants that Move

SCRANTON, PA (April 21, 2017) – This year, when hundreds of business professionals, community leaders, and friends of Marywood University come together on May 4 to attend the University’s fourth annual Community Leadership Celebration, they are going to soon discover that they are part of a very unique dining and entertainment experience.

While partygoers can still rely on hearing from some of Marywood’s most gifted students with musical selections from Godspell, a jazz group, a saxophone quartet and dueling grand pianos, this year’s extravaganza includes so much more. Marywood’s Center for Athletics and Wellness will be transformed into a mystical venue where statues come to life, plants move and aerialists fly above the crowd, performing daring feats with effortless grace.

Back on earth, attendees will be taken on a culinary world tour, with specialties from New York, Paris, Tokyo and Rome. Guests will travel from station to station, sampling food from around the world on their magical journey. It will truly be a spectacular for the senses.

The money generated by the Community Leadership Dinner, themed “Windows to the World,” will benefit the President’s Innovation Fund, a newly established comprehensive fund that supports Marywood’s growth and innovation as an academic community. In its first three years, the event has helped the University secure more than one million dollars toward enhanced learning opportunities for students.  This year’s event honors Patrick J. Fricchione, M.D., a Marywood trustee. Dr. Fricchione is being recognized for his years of service and dedication to Marywood.
