Marywood University’s String Project will host its Spring Gala Concert on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at 6:30 p.m., in the Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts. The concert is free and open to the public.

Marywood University’s String Project is an after-school pre-collegiate string program for students ages 5-18. Participants take small-group lessons in violin, viola, cello, and double bass; participate in the orchestra; and perform in concerts. Participants are placed in levels of beginner, intermediate, or advanced based on experience.

The String Project at Marywood University is taught by Marywood faculty as well as Marywood string and education students. Approximately 125 students enroll in Marywood’s String Project each year, and Marywood is one of several universities across the U.S. that participates in the National String Project Consortium, which is dedicated to increasing the number of children playing stringed instruments and addressing the critical shortage of string teachers in the U.S. The Marywood String Project recently opened two satellite programs at the Nativity Miguel School and All Saints String Project.
