Marywood University’s Campus Choir to Perform Fall Concert
SCRANTON, PA (November 13, 2015)—Marywood University’s music, theatre, and dance department’s campus choir, an ensemble comprised of students, faculty, and community members, will perform its fall concert. The concert will take place on Sunday, November 22, 2015, at 4 p.m., at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 550 Madison Avenue, Scranton, Pa. This event is free and open to the public.
The performance will feature The Peaceable Kingdom, based on texts from the book of Isaiah. The piece was influenced by American preacher and artist Edward Hicks’s (1780-1849) painting of the same name, which depicts a child lying serenely with a group of animals. Thompson crafted a dramatic good-versus-evil narrative with an equally dramatic variety of choral effects and musical evocations.
