Marywood University’s Art Galleries to Hold Senior Exhibition in Art Therapy

 

SCRANTON, PA (November 7, 2017)—Marywood University’s Art Galleries will hold the 2017 Bachelor of Arts Senior Exhibition in Art Therapy from November 17 through December 7, 2017. An opening reception will take place on Friday, November 17, from 4-6 p.m., in the Suraci Gallery, on the second floor of the Shields Center for Visual Arts, on the University’s campus. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

 

Featured senior art therapy students include: Ashley Caldaro, West Milford, N.J.; Brittany Fyock, Greensburg, Pa.; Gabriella Gonzalez, Levittown, N.Y.; and Cecelia Peters, Fayetteville, N.Y.  The senior art therapy students will be displaying a variety of artwork, including paintings in oil and watercolor, ceramics, and mixed media.

 

Exhibitions in the Suraci Gallery showcase regional and national artists, support art faulty work and scholarship, provide degree research and documentation opportunities for current and alumni art students, and foster community outreach projects and interests.

 

The Suraci Gallery also houses Marywood University’s permanent collection of fine and decorative art. The Asian Collection consists of ceramics, furniture, netsukes, inro, ivories, and prints. Bronze and marble sculpture, paintings, ceramics, glass, and French ivories comprise the 19th Century Collection. Religious icons, furniture, and 20th century works complete the collection in the Suraci Gallery.
