Marywood University’s Announces 2015 Chamber Singers Tour
SCRANTON, PA (May 13, 2015)-Marywood University Chamber Singers will take their songs on the road, beginning next week, launching their tour with a concert at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York, N.Y., on Monday, May 18, 2015, at 4 p.m.
The 2015 Chamber Singers tour program, titled “Reincarnations,” features Samuel Barber’s choral set bearing that same name, as well as works by Tye, Mealor, Elgar, Cornelius, Nystedt, and others.
“Every piece on the program is, in some sense, a reincarnation or reworking of a pre-existing model in another form,” said Rick Hoffenberg, D.M.A., associate professor in the music, theatre, and dance department at Marywood University.
Marywood University’s Chamber Singers will continue their tour with concerts at Marquand Chapel at Yale University, Conn., on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at 7:30 p.m.; Faneuil Hall, Boston, Mass., on Saturday, May 23, at noon; the Arlington Street Church, Boston, Mass., on Sunday, May 24, at the 11 a.m. worship service; and St. Mark’s Chapel, Conn., on Monday, May 25, at 3 p.m.
