Marywood University to Participate in International Day of Peace

SCRANTON, Pa. (September 18, 2017)—Marywood University is participating in this year’s International Day of Peace on Thursday, September 21, 2017, with a Global Peace Wave Minute of Silence/Moment of Peace at noon, in the Memorial Garden, on the University’s campus. This event is free and open to the public.

Students, faculty, staff, and the community are invited to participate in the International Day of Peace with the theme “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.” The day will focus on refugees and migrants throughout the world. The day will also provide a shared date for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute to building a culture of peace.

Participants may also visit the “Peace Table” in the lobby of the Learning Commons, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., to participate in the many activities, including: watch a live stream of Peace Day events from around the world; write a letter of support to DACA students; make a peace crane; take the United States Institute of Peace #PeaceDayChallenge; and learn about and sign up for student groups “Better Together” and “Global Unity.”
