Marywood University to host Weeklong Educational Program on Healthy Relationships and Violence Prevention

 

SCRANTON, PA (November 9, 2015)—Marywood University will hold a collaborative program between the Counseling/Student Development Center and the Relationship and Empowerment (RAE) Task Force titled:  “It’s On Us,” Healthy Relationships Week, scheduled from Monday, November 16, through Friday, November 20, 2015, on the university’s campus. The events are free and open to the public. Events for the week include:

 

  • Screening and panel discussion of the movie The Hunting Ground on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at 8 p.m., at the Comerford Theatre, in the Center for Natural and Health Sciences.

 

  • “It’s On Us” Celebration on Thursday, November 19, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Learning Commons. This event will incorporate an online pledge, a photo booth, interactive tables with information about the prevention of violence, giveaways, and free food.

 

For the second consecutive year, Marywood University will join thousands of schools from across the country in taking part in the national “It’s On Us” campaign. The goal is to engage Marywood students, staff, and faculty, along with the outside community, by raising awareness and providing educational material to reinforce that everyone has a role to play in stopping sexual violence.
