Marywood University’s Student Activities and Leadership Development office will hold its second annual CONQUER Student Leadership Conference on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at 11 a.m. In preparation for the conference, proposals are being accepted from now until Friday, August 24, 2018, for those who want to present at the conference. Faculty and staff from Marywood University and other local colleges and universities, as well as individuals in leadership positions within the community, are encouraged to submit proposals and present at the conference.
The 50-minute presentations can cover a wide range of topics. Students in attendance will be of various ages and experience levels from Marywood University and other local institutions. If you are interested in presenting, please contact the Student Activities and Leadership Development office at Marywood University, at www.marywood.edu/studentactivities, or call (57) 340-6016. If selected, presenters will be notified of their presentation time by Friday, September 7, 2018. All presenters are invited to attend the keynote, lunch, and our student leader reception.
The keynote speaker at the CONQUER Student Leadership Conference at Marywood University is Bill Coon. Mr. Coon is a two-time survivor of organ transplants, the first of which, a heart transplant, was performed just days after his birth. Living without complications from the heart transplant until age 20, he was rushed to the hospital in 2009 suffering end-stage heart and kidney failure. Thanks to the generosity and selflessness of Mr. Coon’s second donor, his life was saved again on October 21, 2009.
Since returning home from the hospital, Mr. Coon has become an avid spokesperson for organ donation, as well as a motivational speaker. In 2017, Mr. Coon launched the Keep Swimming Foundation, a nonprofit organization that aims to provide financial relief to the families of individuals facing long-term inpatient care.\
