Marywood University’s music, theatre, and dance department will hold its Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony concert on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at 4 p.m., in the Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts. The concert is free and open to the public.
Marywood University’s Wind Ensemble specializes in music for winds and percussion requiring smaller and flexible instrumentation. The 50-member group follows the established wind ensemble model that is used by most major universities. Membership is limited to Marywood students who are either music or non-music majors by audition.
The Wind Symphony at Marywood University consists of 110 members who perform major works from the traditional band repertoire as well as contemporary wind compositions by proven composers. This group specializes in repertoire that calls for large instrumental forces. The ensemble is open to all Marywood students and community members by audition.
- David Romines, D.M.A., music, theatre, and dance department co-chair and associate professor of music education at Marywood University, will conduct the concert. Dr. Romines has directed music ensembles from public and private schools, community groups, colleges and universities, the military, and professional organizations. For the past ten years, he has appeared as conductor and clinician more than 100 times in 35 states, as well as Canada, South Korea, Germany, Italy, and China.
