Marywood University’s Graduate School of Social Work Association, in partnership with its Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Committee, will sponsor two events aimed at bringing awareness to Human Trafficking.
On Thursday, April 12, 2018, from 6-8 p.m., a documentary film, Stopping Traffic, will be presented at the Comerford Theater, 71 Public Square, Wilkes Barre, Pa. The film is free and open to the public.
Stopping Traffic is a powerful documentary that features heroes of the anti-sex-trafficking movement in order to raise awareness, expand the movement, and present practical solutions to eradicate it. This film journeys to the Philippines, Mexico, Thailand, Iraq, and major U.S. cities to provide first-hand documentation of crime that prevails across every culture and socioeconomic class.
The annual Poster Day Event will take place on Friday, April 13, 2018, at 12:30 p.m., in the Liberal Arts Center, Room 211. Following a short training/orientation session on human trafficking, volunteers will be divided into groups and given informational posters on trafficking to distribute within assigned areas (local businesses, organizations, and stores) in the city of Scranton.
