Marywood University to Hold Human Trafficking Awareness Events
Featuring Film Screening, Panel Discussion, and Poster Day Activities
SCRANTON, PA (March 30, 2015)—A film screening and panel discussion to bring awareness of Human Trafficking will be presented at Marywood University on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 4:30 p.m. in the Comerford Theatre, Center for Natural and Health Sciences, on the University’s campus. This event is free and open to the public.
The event will begin with the screening of the film, “Pittsburg Fights Back,” followed by a panel discussion featuring social activists and others with significant experience on the issue of human trafficking, including: Heather Evans, founder and director, Valley Against Sex Trafficking (VAST); Debbie Colton, founder and director, Oasis of Hope; and Krista Hoffman, technical consultant, faculty, Messiah College.
The annual Poster Day activity will take place on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Liberal Arts Center, Room 319. Following a short training/orientation session on human trafficking by Mark Rodgers, DSW, LCSW, BSD, dean of the College of Health and Human Services, volunteers will be divided into groups and given informational posters on trafficking to distribute within assigned areas (local businesses, organizations, and stores) in Scranton.
