Marywood University to Hold Free Anxiety Screenings


SCRANTON, PA (March 30, 2015)—Marywood University’s Psychological Services Center will offer free, confidential anxiety screenings on Thursday, April 9, 2015, from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., in the McGowan Center for Graduate and Professional Studies on the University’s campus. The free screenings are open to the public and to all ages.


“Anxiety disorders impair function in a person’s daily life.  This is one of, if not, the most common mental health disorder that people experience in our contemporary era,” said Robert S. Shaw, PsyD., ABPP, director of the Counseling and Student Development Center at Marywood University.


Psychiatrists generally agree that anxiety is a normal human emotion everyone experiences at times. Many people feel anxious or nervous when faced with a problem at work, before taking a test, or making an important decision
