Marywood University will hold its 17th annual “Release the Light” Sexual Assault Awareness program, in conjunction with National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, on Thursday, April 26, 2018. The event will take place on the campus green, in front of the Insalaco Center for Studio Arts, from 2-5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

 

This year’s program will be an outdoor fair, with music, speakers, crafts, and more than 20 organizations represented at tables with information about the topics of sexual assault, violence in relationships, healthy relationships, and a “Solidarity March” at 4:30 p.m.

 

Community and student organizations, as well as academic departments will be represented, including: the Counseling/Student Development Center, Peers on Wellness, Relationship Awareness and Empowerment Task Force (RAE), Music Therapy Club; Alpha Sigma Psi Sorority, Psychological Services; Caritas Social Work Club; the Women’s Resource Center, Campus Safety, the Men’s Lacrosse team; StudentAthlete Advisory Committee; dean of students and Title IX deputy coordinator, Ross Novak; Phi Mu Delta Fraternity, Psychology Club; Commuter Committee; Ally Club; Student Government Association; Pre-Physician Assistant Club; MUSATA, Student Art Therapy Association; the Cross Cultural Centers at the University of Scranton; and the Public Relations Student Society of America and Advertising Federation.

 

April is designated as National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and communities and colleges across the nation will join together against crimes of sexual abuse.
