Marywood University Presents Free Summer Concert Series

 

SCRANTON, PA (July 19, 2015)—Marywood University’s music, theatre, and dance department presents the Marywood Summer Festival Band in a concert of traditional American band repertoire on Sunday, July 19, 2015, at 7 p.m., in the Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts on the university’s campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

 

Cody Messersmith, tuba, junior music education student at Marywood; and Anthony Fortuna, bassoon, alumnus of the University, will be the featured soloists. The concert will also include the overtures from “The Poet and Peasant,” by Franz von Suppe, and “The Barber of Seville,” by Giacommo Rossini, as well as show tunes and marches from the American band literature of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
