Marywood University Faculty Selected as Outstanding Dietetic Educator
SCRANTON, PA (April 5, 2017)—Marywood University faculty member Erin O’Hora, DHSc, RDN, LDN, Moosic, Pa., was recently notified that she has been selected as the recipient of the 2016 Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (PAND) Outstanding Dietetic Education Award for the Graduate category.
Dr. O’Hora was selected for the PAND Outstanding Dietetics Educator Award for her excellence as an educator in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics within an accredited and approved dietetic education program. She will receive her award at the Annual Meeting and Exhibition of PAND at the end of this month in King of Prussia, Pa.
Earning her bachelor’s degree in 1998 through the coordinated program in nutrition and dietetics at Marywood University, Dr. O’Hora went on to earn her master’s degree in sports nutrition and exercise science in 2009, also from Marywood University. Most recently, she has earned a doctorate in health science from Nova Southeastern University, Florida, in 2014.
Dr. O’Hora’s research interests include examining behavioral and environmental determinants of excess weight gain, emphasizing early adulthood obesity prevention. She has examined the associations between weight management directed education programs for college freshman in prevention of weight gain throughout the first-year of college. Her research interests also include nutrition and health education across the lifespan to improve and prevent obesity related co-morbidities.
Since graduating, she has been working in both clinical and corporate areas within the field of nutrition. She has also worked as an adjunct faculty member at Marywood University and is active in her local professional organization, including the Northeast Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
