Marywood University to Celebrate United Nations Day

 

SCRANTON, PA—The office of international affairs, the dean’s office of the College of Health and Human Services, and the Fulbright Committee at Marywood University will sponsor a celebration of United Nations Day, on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, from 6-8 p.m., in the conference room B, Swartz Center, on the university’s campus. This event is free and open to the public

 

The celebration will include the reading of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and a brief history of the United Nations. In addition, graduate students from the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program will engage in a mock demonstration of the United Nations Security Council. The students will entertain resolutions aimed at upholding world peace and resolving conflict, by addressing issues of terrorism in Iraq, Syria, and Libya, as well as the nuclear issue in Iran and conflict in Ukraine. A video message from United Nations Secretary General Ban Kimoon will also be presented.
