Good Shepherd Academy’s Academic Bowl Team recently participated in the Young Scholar’s Program at Scranton Prep. Twenty-one area schools, striving to correctly answer questions in mathematics, science, history, geography, grammar, literature sports, and pop culture, competed.

Good Shepherd Academy students were successful in the first two rounds and proceeded to Round Three. Nine teams advanced to this round. The GSA team won their room competition and earned a spot in the Final Round. The top three schools competed in a “Jeopardy-type” round in which team members buzzed in to answer a toss up question and gain control of the bonus questions. The Good Shepherd Academy team met the challenge and won first place. Team members were Ireland Davies, Eric Jeffries, Peter Maria, and Scott Williams. Moderators were Miss Janice Ambrulavage and Mrs. Joyce Elston. Good Shepherd Academy is located in Kingston and is a member of the Holy Redeemer School System Inc of the Diocese of Scranton. Mr. Jim Jones is the principal and Mr. Stan Pavlick is the vice-principal.
