The National Business Honor Society was designed to recognize FBLA members who excel in academic preparation and are anticipating a possible career in the business world.

In order to succeed, members need to be well prepared in terms of their academics, career skills, and leadership development.

To be eligible, a student must have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must have completed at least two business courses with at least a 3.5 GPA in those courses, and must have demonstrated leadership potential through service as a chapter officer, committee leader or participation in chapter activities.  In addition, a student may apply for membership in this honor society no earlier than the end of the first semester of his/her junior year.

This year senior Evan Coons was recognized at the recent FBLA State Leadership Conference with a certificate, a pin, a letter to the high school principal and to the superintendent and recognition on the PA FBLA website.

Evan is a three-year member of FBLA having participated in the organization’s competitive events program each of these years.  In fact, during his sophomore year, he qualified for national competition in the Intro to Business Presentation event.

Evan is also a member of the National Honor Society and the varsity football team.

Upon graduation, Evan plans to attend Bowdoin College and major in economics.
