Marywood’s Pre-College Architecture Summer Workshop Teaches Tools of the Trade to High School Students

SCRANTON, PA (July 25, 2016)—Twenty-five high school students made the summer count by earning credits and getting a jump start to course work and preparation for college life at Marywood University’s annual “design your future” pre-college summer workshop.

The “design your future” pre-college summer workshop at Marywood University is an intensive two-week workshop for high school students interested in architecture or interior architecture.

Students who have completed their sophomore year at high school have the option to take the course for three college credits through Marywood University’s Momentum Program, which provides high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to get a head start on college by enrolling in college-level courses. Students can choose from a variety of courses during the fall, spring, or summer semesters through to the student’s high school graduation.

In addition to earning credits, “design your future” students are exposed to design processes and innovative applications in diverse studio projects, as well as preparing for the creative exploration of architecture school and with campus life at the university level.
