Marywood University to Present “Dance into Spring” Classes and Performances

 

SCRANTON, PA (April 12, 2017)—Marywood University’s music, theatre, and dance department will host a daylong “Dance into Spring” event on Saturday, May 6, 2017, including a master class in jazz with members of the company of PIPPIN; a master class in modern dance with dancer-choreographer Jody Sperling, founder of Time Lapse Dance; and the “Dance into Spring,” performance by Ms. Sperling and the Marywood University Dance Program. All events will be held in the Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts. The schedule for the day is:

 

  • 10 a.m. – Noon – Join members of the company PIPPIN for a master class in jazz. The class is free with Marywood identification, and is supported by a Lackawanna County Community Arts and Culture Grant, Commissioners Patrick O’Malley, Jerry Notarianni, and Laureen Cummings.
  • 1-3 p.m. – A master class in modern dance with Jody Sperling from Time Lapse Dance. The class is free with Marywood identification.
  • 7:30 p.m. – A performance by Ms. Sperling and the Marywood University Dance Program’s “Dance into Spring” will be held in the Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts. The performance is free and open to the public.
