As natural human beings, we love stuff! We love to buy new stuff and tend to never get rid of the things that we no longer need. If you are guilty of this it is ok, there is a large percentage of people that never declutter. However, decluttering is actually a really important thing that we all need to do. The reason for this is because when there is less stuff in your home or all around you, there is actually less stress.
The decluttering process can take a long time because it can be hard to part with something even if it is no longer needed. Even thinking about all the stuff that you need to declutter can overwhelm you. But, here is my advice for you: start slow. Don’t try to tackle one full room at one time because you are most likely going to burn yourself out very quickly. Pick one section of a room and start there, do not move on until that part is done. Little by little you’ll see yourself going through things easier as you get used to the decluttering process.
Here are some decluttering tips to keep in mind:
- Make sure everything has a place. This part is extremely vital to keeping an area decluttered. Everything should have a “home” to return to after it has been used. If you end up buying more stuff make sure you have a place for it before you purchase it.
- If you cannot find a designated place for a specific item, it is time to think about parting with it. Yes, I know that it may be hard to do away with something that you’ve held onto for so long, but if it has not been used/touched for a year then getting rid of it is your best bet.
- One man’s trash is another man’s treasure! Don’t just simply throw things in the trash! If your items are still in good condition why not sell it! Simply snap a picture of it and sell it on Paper Shop so that you can make some cash and give your things a new life!
Just as I said before, make sure you start slow and conquer one section at a time. You are going to feel so much better at the end, I promise! Go ahead and start living a life that is less stressful!
