Marywood University to Host Fundraiser for Alternative Service Trip Program

SCRANTON, PA (January 20, 2017)-Marywood University’s campus ministry office will host its first “Snowball Roll” fundraiser, to benefit the alternative break service trip program, on Friday, January 27, 2017, from Noon – 1 p.m., at University Avenue, on the University’s campus. This fundraiser is open to the public.

Participants can purchase “Snowballs” for $2 for a chance to win. Nearly 2,000 numbered balls will be rolled down University Avenue. The first balls to cross the finish line will win prizes, which include: gift cards to numerous restaurants and stores, themed baskets, cash prizes, and more.

This Snowball Roll fundraiser, which the campus ministry office hopes to continue on an annual basis, will assist students who will be participating in the spring alternative service trips. For more than 20 years, Marywood University has partnered with service organizations across the country and the globe to extend a helping hand and bring hope to people who need it most.

This year, Marywood students will travel to Grainger County, Tenn.; Jamaica; San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala; Pittsburgh, Pa.; Sussex County, Del.; and Guatemala, San Lucas and Chichicastenango. The services offered include: working to build infrastructure, conducting medical missions, helping the youth of the community to become more aware of religious life, and assisting young adults with physical and developmental disabilities.

To purchase “Snowballs,” please visit alternativebreak@m.marywood.edu, or purchase directly in the office of campus ministry. Participants do not need to be present to win.
