Marywood University’s Nurse Aide Training Program Incorporate American Red Cross Nurse Aide Competency Examination

SCRANTON, PA (November 18, 2015)-The American Red Cross recently authorized Marywood University’s Nurse Aide Training Program as an official competency examination site, just one of a few in Lackawanna County. Prior to the authorization, Marywood’s Nurse Aide Training students had to schedule the exam off-site, creating a delay in receipt of their certification. With the new authorization from the American Red Cross, students can now take the competency exam, in their facility, immediately upon completing the program at the University.

The Nurse Aide Training program is a Workforce Education program available to high school or GED graduates. Marywood University’s 120-hour Nurse Aide Training program includes interactive classroom and laboratory instruction with hands-on training at state-approved clinical sites. The program is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Day and evening classes are available and run:  Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for five weeks, or Monday thru Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m., for six weeks.

The Nurse Aide Training program is separate from Marywood University’s bachelor of science in nursing program, which is a four-year undergraduate program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
